Roswell Mill Wedding & Engagement Photographer

Two quite different places share one address here. There’s Roswell Mill Club, with a long covered porch for ceremonies and a bright reception room behind it — and then there’s the old mill itself, a covered bridge over Vickery Creek, and a waterfall, all a short walk down the hill. About half an hour north of Atlanta, and somewhere we come back to often.

The covered bridge

The covered bridge over Vickery Creek is the picture most people know Roswell Mill by, and it photographs every bit as well as it looks. Timber trusses overhead, light coming in from both sides down the length of it, and the river running underneath.

It’s a short walk from the Club, so you can head down between your ceremony and your reception and be back before anyone misses you. We’d suggest late afternoon if you have the choice — the light comes through the sides rather than straight down, and the whole bridge glows.

The mill and the creek

Below the bridge you’ve got the old brick mill, the river, and rocks you can walk out onto. The brickwork gives you texture and a bit of history behind you, and the creek gives you water and greenery — all within a few minutes of each other.

It’s a public park, so there will be other people around. That’s never been a problem for us; we work around them, and it’s part of what makes the place feel alive rather than staged.

Vickery Creek and the falls

Keep walking and you reach the falls. One engagement session here began early in the morning and ended with both of them waist-deep in the water, and it’s still one of our favorites.

You don’t have to get in, of course — plenty of couples stay up on the rocks. But if you’re tempted, bring a change of clothes and tell us beforehand so we can plan the timing around the light.

Your ceremony at Roswell Mill Club

The Club’s ceremony space is a long covered porch, with white drapes hung between the posts, wooden floorboards underfoot and a red door at one end. Lanterns and greenery run down the aisle, and the arch at the front is a pair of barn doors that takes flowers beautifully.

Because the porch is covered, rain isn’t the worry it can be at an outdoor ceremony space. You’re outside with the trees behind you, and still under a roof.

The reception room

Inside, the reception room is bright and white with a dark wood floor, big windows down one side and brass chandeliers overhead. It holds daylight late into the evening, and once the sun has gone the chandeliers and uplighting take over.

One wedding here had baby’s breath on slices of wood, candles and eucalyptus down the tables, a cigar bar, and lottery tickets as favors.

Dancing and the band

There’s room for a live band and a proper dance floor. At one wedding here Sweetwater Junction played, the floor filled early, and it stayed busy all night.

The room lights well enough that we can photograph dancing without a wall of flash, which keeps the photographs looking like the evening actually felt.

The send-off

Send-offs happen out front under the club’s sign, which is lit after dark and makes a lovely backdrop on its own. This couple left through a tunnel of bubbles to a decorated car waiting outside.

Planning a wedding at Roswell Mill

Roswell is about half an hour north of Atlanta, so your guests and your vendors are all close by and nobody is making a day of the drive.
