Summerour Studio doesn’t need much help. Eight thousand square feet of old Westside warehouse, a barrel-vault ceiling carried on steel bow trusses, and a hand-carved staircase that looks like it wandered in from Florence. Katie and Ken filled all of it with lavender.
Their October wedding was soft color and very little fuss — periwinkle invitations, peach and purple blooms, bridesmaids in lilac, an officiant in a lavender suit, and two dogs in bow ties holding down the front steps. It was warm, it was funny, and it never once slowed down.
Before the Doors Opened
The morning was quiet in the way the best ones are. Katie’s mother fastened her necklace. Someone got the bracelet clasp on the second try. Her gown was clean and strapless with a row of covered buttons down the back, and she carried a bouquet that had everything in it — cream garden roses, lavender ranunculus, sweet peas, and one deep purple anemone sitting dead center like a period at the end of a sentence.
Ken got ready down the hall, fixing a cuff in the mirror, coral roses in his pocket.
Candlelight on the Staircase
The ceremony room is what people book this venue for. Trusses overhead, string lights the length of it, and at the front that hand-carved staircase with every step lined in candles and trailing greenery.
Katie came down the aisle between two men who clearly had no intention of letting go. Ken watched the entire way. The officiant — in a lavender suit matched exactly to the bridesmaids — kept it short and warm, and when they kissed the room came up out of its chairs.
Champagne on the Cobblestones
They came out into the courtyard through a corridor of raised glasses and a spray of champagne, both of them laughing with their eyes shut.
That courtyard is the other reason to book this place: brick underfoot, ivy over everything, and a stone wall with 409 carved into it — the same address printed on their invitations.
If you’re weighing Summerour for your own date, we put everything we know about photographing here — where the courtyard light falls, the staircase, the arched windows, the rain plan — into our Summerour Studio venue guide.
Two Dogs and a Flight of Steps
Then the whole party came out onto those steps, and so did the dogs — the golden in a lavender bow, the pittie in sage to match the groomsmen. Neither of them looked at the camera at the same moment, which is exactly how that goes.
The bridesmaids laughed through most of their photos. The groomsmen walked the ivy arch in the last of the sun. And somewhere in the middle of all of it Katie and Ken kissed on the stairs while a dozen people threw their hands in the air behind them.
A Room That Kept Going
Inside, the same hall had turned over completely — long tables, gold chiavari chairs, candles down the middle, and a floral arrangement suspended above the sweetheart table. The cake stood three tiers of combed buttercream with lavender, peach and plum blooms climbing one side.
Their first dance was the two of them alone on all that open floor with the trusses lit overhead. Then the parents danced. Then the floor filled and simply stayed full.
Katie and Ken — thank you for a day this easy to love. Wishing you a lifetime of lavender, good dogs, and a dance floor that never empties.
