“We can’t wait for their wedding in June!”
That’s what we wrote after Ariana + Cory’s engagement session at Cator Woolford Gardens back in January of 2020. Then 2020 happened. Their invitations even had a note about what to do if the wedding had to be postponed. But on June 20, 2020, these two got married at the Evergreen Marriott in Stone Mountain Park, and it was worth the wait.
The resort is now called the Atlanta Evergreen Lakeside Resort. It sits right on the lake inside Stone Mountain Park, surrounded by woods, which made for some of our favorite portraits of the year.
Getting Ready
Ariana got ready with her girls in their matching floral robes, with a view of the lake out the window. Cory got ready in another room at the hotel, and he made sure we got a good look at his socks.
The Details
Their invitations were designed like passports, and we loved them. Ariana wrapped family rings and lockets around the stems of her peony bouquet, and there were love notes written on the soles of her shoes. The girls even got tumblers with their names on them.
The Ceremony
The ceremony was inside in the ballroom, with a white arch at the front and lanterns and petals down the aisle. Cory lost it the moment Ariana started walking toward him (so sweet!), and after the kiss the two of them threw their arms straight up in the air.
Portraits in the Woods
The grounds are full of tall pines, winding paths, a wooden footbridge and string lights hanging through the trees. We took everyone out into the woods for the wedding party photos, and then Ariana + Cory had the footbridge to themselves.
The Reception
The reception was out at the big stone pavilion, with blush tables, string lights and a stone fireplace behind the sweetheart table. The hotel handled the catering, and dessert was a bundt cake that Ariana + Cory made sure to get all over each other.
Sparklers by the Lake
When it got dark we took these two down to the dock for some sparkler photos over the water, and then everyone lined the path with sparklers for their send-off.
